Moving Images

This page is a collection of work that I have made during my course in Video Art and Animation. In the Video Art studio course, I was introduced to the creative time-based medium of video. The course focused on developing a thorough understanding of the visual literacy used in video art as well as a technical understanding of nonlinear editing using industry standard software. Through editing practices, I learned to manipulate time, space and sound to create my own personal works in a variety of styles. Additionally animation introduced me to animation as a contemporary art form. I used Adobe Creative Software in addition to other industry standard software to create standalone and interactive animations based upon a story or theme.

"Hello?" Eggleston Project

This project was to pick a photo from the photographer William Eggleston. You can see my photo which this video was inspired by at the end of the video in the credits. I was inspired by many murder mysteries that I have seen in the past so I wanted to take a Twist on that. In this film, you only see one person but there are actually two people acting. It features my sister Ravin Bezona.

Multi-Screen "Anxiety"

This was one of our first projects using a new editing Technique we learned. It's called the multi-screen tool it allows you to have multiple videos playing on one screen at a time. The project assignment was to create a short film to convey a feeling. I chose anxiety as my feeling. I tried to use elements that give me anxiety and that I know trigger other people to help convey this emotion.

Reflection

This project was my final video art. For our final, we could have picked any of our past projects and elevated on top of that which is what I chose. I picked our past Eggleston project to choose from again. this time I chose a different photographer Lee Friedlander. Again you can see the original photo that inspired it at the end of the film in the credits. I was inspired by his haunting mask to create a film about the effects of social media and an unhealthy mindset of self-image. I created those masks out of clay there are two versions of them to progressively show the damage that it can cause.

Selling

This project was to use found footage and other video clips from online to create a video of her own meaning. I decided to do commentary over the evolution of capitalism. how they have always pushed selling, specifically towards women. Discussing the correlation between buying products to your worth and beauty.

Transition

This project was another project to test our editing skills We had to create a video using lots of transitions to convey our message. The flower is there to represent life. Everything that is beautiful must eventually come to an end. The flower Fades Into Darkness and falls off its stem. Then slowly drifts away into the river. This is supposed to be a metaphor for death. Despite death being sad, dark and scary it can be beautiful in the end.

Walk Cycle Animation

This was one of our first projects in animation to test our skills. We had to animate a walking cycle using our own characters. Then we had to put that walk cycle on a background and foreground to create the illusion of them walking down the hallway. This character is one that I created on the spot and it's supposed to be a mechanical bunny. Her design was inspired by traditional ball jointed dolls.

Sureillance

This project was quite interesting and again tested art editing skills. Everyone in the class had to pick out of three original Clips each one having different themes. It was a collection of Clips we could use to make an edit from to create a title scene for a made-up show. I decided to do mine off of the City theme videos. This inspired me to make a somewhat crime surveillance related show.

Professor Smoke

This project was really fun it was to make ourselves in to a superhero using animation and video editing techniques. I decided to hand draw my effects to create a fun cartoony feel to it. We had a lot of smoke effects available for us to use which inspired Professor smoke. It was kind of fun being on the opposite end of the camera for once, though definitely challenging at times.

Fly on the Wall

This was my final project for animation. We had to make a full length feature using all of the editing and animation techniques we have learned throughout the course. This piece was inspired by that scene in Ratatouille. It's when Remy is running through the apartment building and he peeks in to multiple buildings witnessing a chaotic scene. I wanted to somewhat recreate this but with a fly.
